An introduction to computer concepts, hardware, and use of software including: operating systems, Internet browsers, word processing software, spreadsheet software, database software, and presentation programs.
This course was developed as a Post-Secondary night class, although it is a course commonly taught at the high school level as well. A three-hour night class at the college level will be equal to one-week in a high school setting.

U1 Intro to Tech1, 3-hour class
During this unit, students will learn the definition of technology and learn about a variety of technological devices.
During this unit, students will learn to create, edit, and format Word documents. Students will also learn to use MLA style to write research papers, write formal business letters, and will show their Word processing skills by creating a flyer.

U2L2 Create Edit Format1, 3-hour class
Students will:
Enter and check spelling of text in a Word document.
Format paragraphs.
Change theme colors.
Insert and format pictures.
Add borders.
Adjust spacing.
Save, print, and email a document.
Students will use MLA style to create a research paper with proper formatting, references, and citations. This includes:
Header/footer.
Line and paragraph spacing.
Paragraph indention.
Bibliography.
Finding synonyms.
Finding and replacing text.
Students will create a formal business letter with a letterhead by using the following skills:
Insert/format a shape.
Change margins and text wrapping.
Insert/format clipart.
Set/adjust tabs.
Insert/modify data into a table.
During this unit, students will learn to enter text, numbers, and formulas in Excel. Students will also learn to format Excel workbooks and create and format charts.
Students will enter text and numbers in excel, work with simple functions, use the fill handle, format cell styles, create pie charts, add and change name/color of sheets.
Students will:
Enter formulas.
Calculate the maximum.
Minimum and average functions.
Apply a theme to a workbook.
Apply a date format.
Create conditional formatting rules.
Change column width/height.
Students will:
Rotate text.
Create a series of months.
Format numbers.
Use absolute and mixed cell references.
Create and edit Sparkline charts.
Create and edit clustered column charts.
Students will show their Excel skills by:
Entering and formatting text in an excel spreadsheet.
Calculating basic excel formulas.
Creating new sheets.
Using data to create charts.
During this unit, students will learn to create, edit, and present a PowerPoint.
