About the Author

Emily Schmidt is a Career Pathways Facilitator with Olathe Public Schools. This positions supports teachers and students with Work-based Learning initiatives tied to student individual plan of study.


Emily is a former Family and Consumer Science teacher. She has taught in the Education and Training, Restaurant and Event Management, and Family Career and Consumer Services Pathways. She was a nominee for Kansas Teachers of the Year in 2021.


Emily has a BS in Family and Consumer Sciences from Pittsburg State and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Central Missouri.

My teaching content is Family and Consumer Sciences. I am a PSU alumni (BS in FCS Ed - 2012 & MS in CTE - 2016). Go Gorillas! I am passionate about Family and Consumer Sciences and I enjoy teaching students real world skills that I know will help them become successful in their future.
