My teaching content area is Family and Consumer Sciences. I have been teaching for 11 years total and am currently teaching at Crest High/Middle School(1A School) where I have a variety of preps including: Career and Life Planning, Family Studies, Human Growth and Development, Nutrition and Wellness, Culinary Essentials, Culinary Arts I, Culinary Arts II, Relationships & Personal Awareness, Leadership Service in Action, Foundations to Early Childhood, Career Connections and Community Connections.


In addition to teaching, I am also the Carl Perkins Coordinator, FCCLA Adviser, and Student Council Sponsor. Although I spent my first four years in education at Louisburg High School and LOVED it, I couldn't be more happy to be back home teaching from the very classroom where I fell in love with all that Family & Consumer Sciences is!

Description
Community Connections courses offer learning experiences that take place in both community and school settings, primarily within the Family and Consumer Sciences classroom. The course is designed to enhance essential 21st-century skills such as leadership, community service, empathy, communication, problem-solving, cooperation, critical thinking, and resource management. These skills are vital for personal development and success in careers related to Human services and Family and Consumer Sciences.

Unit 1: Introduction to Community Connections1 Week
This Unit is designed to familiarize students with the structure of this class. Student course materials for setting up the semester are included. Many of these documents will be utilized and referenced throughout the semester. It is recommended to take time at the beginning of the semester for students to bind these items in their class folders.

This unit dives into the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between work/school and life. It also examines effective stress relief techniques and emphasizes the importance of maintaining good health in achieving this balance.
