Description
Introduction to Computer Coding is a beginner-friendly course designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of computer science and programming. The course begins with an overview of computer science, distinguishing it from coding, and exploring its history, core concepts, and problem-solving strategies. Students will then dive into Python, one of the most popular programming languages, learning essential skills such as working with variables, data types, input/output, math operations, and control statements. Ethical considerations in technology are explored through lessons on digital citizenship, cybersecurity, and intellectual property. As students advance, they will develop more complex coding skills, including loops, functions, string methods, and lists. The course concludes with a hands-on portfolio project where students create games and applications like calculators, Rock, Paper, Scissors, and Choose Your Own Adventure stories, showcasing their skills and creativity. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in coding, problem-solving, and ethical computing practices, preparing them for more advanced programming courses.
