Description
System administration is a broad concept that deals with a wide range of organizational activities. This introduction to system administration is designed to prepare students to enter the role of a system administrator in today’s business environment equipped with a basic knowledge how to administer Windows and Linux systems, networking, virtualization, scripting, and user management. Additionally, this study of system administration touches on network security concepts that have important implications for every organization. This course additionally includes hands on lab activities in both Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services.

Unit 1- System Administration Core Concepts10 Hours
Students will learn about introductory concepts of System Administration, the history of operating systems, and define the core principles of networking. Students will also be exposed to the critical nature of user management as a role of the system administrator, along with Active Directory. Students will also work with Microsoft Azure to complete labs.

Unit 2- Advanced Windows System Administration7.5 Hours
Students will be introduced to the use of command prompt, batch scripting, and define logging and monitoring. Students will also learn about on-premise virtualization performance topics.
